Building stronger communities through sustainable development
The Kumba Foundation was founded by Princess Guwor-Vonyeegar after she visited Liberia in December 2018, returning to the country after an absence of over 18 years. The trip highlighted the dire need for school supplies among children in Monrovia, motivating Princess to make a positive impact on the community. This eye-opening experience revealed the severe shortage of educational resources in Liberia. In response, Princess established "The Kumba Foundation" in honor of her mother, Kumba, who tragically passed away in 2012 due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The loss of her mother significantly influenced Princess's life. The foundation's name serves as a testament to Kumba's selfless nature.
Today, we operate programs in education, healthcare, women empowerment, and community development, impacting over 15,000 lives.
The Kumba Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on the educational success of the youth in Massachusetts and Liberia. This organization strives to ensure that the youth in Massachusetts and Liberia are provided with school supplies. Through providing these materials, The Kumba Foundation hopes to assist these students in having a more supportive learning environment to promote academic success. Our mission is to provide underserved students with the opportunity to thrive in a learning environment through enrichment programs, school supplies and technology.
